- Ace: A legal serve that results directly in a point.
- Assist: A pass that directly leads to a kill attempt.
- Block: A defensive play at the net to stop or redirect an attack.
- Dig: A defensive pass of a hard-driven attacked ball.
- Kill: An attack that results in an immediate point.
- Libero: A back-row defensive specialist with unique substitution rules.
- Rotation: The clockwise movement of players after winning the serve.
- Set: An overhead pass used to position the ball for an attacker.
- Side out: Winning the rally while receiving serve and earning serve.
- Spike: A forceful attack hit into the opponent's court.
